Elton John Video: Elton John & John Lennon – Whatever Gets You Thru The Night (Live)

Latest Elton John News:

On November 28, 1974, Elton was joined on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City by a surprise guest after a bet that John Lennon and Elton John made: if Lennon’s ‘Whatever Gets You Thru The Night’ (which Elton played and sang on) reached #1 in the US charts, John Lennon would join Elton on stage. It did, and he did. It would be John Lennon’s last concert appearance.

  1. Still hard to believe Elton didn't have this video'd himself. Someone said it was a union thing. He should have said screw the union. This is history.

  2. I have a bootleg LP of this…all the songs John came out and performed…including the one and only time he ever performed a Paul McCartney song live- I Saw Her Standing There…Also, this performance only happened because John lost a bet with Elton that the song would reach number 1 on the charts- John didn't think it would and Elton did. Elton politely told John he didn't have to perform but John said he lost the bet so he would make good…turned out to be the last live performance John ever gave I believe…

  3. Definetely…We Miss you So Much Johnny. So Sad that there is not images and more videos of this, No Doubts that concert was pure Gold from head to toe.

  4. What this doesn't mention is that John was there because Elton had bet him that "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" would hit #1.  The bet was that John would join him on stage to play the song if it did.  This moment was the result.  It was also John's last live concert performance.

  5. I've heard this so many times on a record somewhere, it's even in my ipod (which is loaded only with cd's) but never got to SEE it. Thank You, wish I could have been there
